Last Minute Halloween Costume!

by Lauren Salerno

I did this video at work and it stars yours truly, but it's a really great last minute halloween costume because all you need is some black clothes, black eyeliner and red lipstick! Check out the video, it's a little long, but celebrity makeup artist Elle Leary gives really great tips for how to get the look!

p.s. I look really awkward in the beginning of this video...

The Best Way To Enjoy Pumpkins & Pumpkin Seeds!

pumpkin seeds recipes

Halloween is fun for lots of reasons, but the candy, costumes, pumpkins and pumpkin seeds are such a nostalgic way to bring in a new holiday season! I found a short, little pumpkin at trader joes and knew I had to bring him home to carve and roast pumpkin seeds inside!

Roasted pumpkin seeds are so easy to make and they are really good for you! They have great nutrients like iron, magnesium, vitamin E, vitamin K and some even call them a superfood! I just really like the way they taste!

Carve off the top of your pumpkin and scoop out the pumpkin seeds. Put the seeds and the goop in a strainer. Wash them thoroughly, give them a good shake in the sink and then add them to a mixing bowl. Give them a swirl of olive oil and then a big dash of salt. That's how you make "original" pumpkin seeds, but I wanted to try something new, so for the second flavor, I added a little bit of cayenne pepper and then blackened cajun seasonings! You can use anything in your cabinet--have fun! If i had gotten more pumpkin seeds out of my pumpkin I would have definitely done more flavors. Lay the pumpkin seeds out on the baking sheet and cook at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. I didn't stir mine and they turned out just fine. I was too distracted in carving my pumpkin.  It's not the most unique carving, but I thought simple was cute! After the pumpkin seeds bake for 45 minutes, take them out, let them cool and then enjoy!

Bringing Bracelets Back!

by Lauren Salerno

I used to always stack lots and lots of bracelets and then went through a phase where I stopped, but I have decided to bring bracelets back!

There is a strange little method to stacking bracelets. First and foremost, I love jewelry because of the memories and inspiration behind it. Whenever I wear a certain piece I'm brought back to those times and feelings. So stacking bracelets for me is like my version of a charm bracelet (I grew up in the south and EVERYONE wore charm bracelets). Most of the bracelets have to have an emotional connection (and hopefully you receive bracelets from people with good taste--thankfully, I have!), but you can obviously throw in a bracelet that just looks good too!

Another method to the madness: you want something delicate, something shiny, something tough, something sparkly and something colorful to go into your bracelet stack. Take a look at my combo and hopefully you'll be inspired!

Purple Haze

by Lauren Salerno

Mama got a brand new bag for her birthday! It was a gift from my boyfriend's mother and I couldn't be happier. In an attempt to wear smaller bags I ended up looking like a mess with things falling out and my hands always full. So this baby came at the perfect time!  It's a great size too, not too big, not too small. I wouldn't take this out for the evening, but it's great for work and weekends.

Linea Pelle bags are the best--the leather is incredible and the quality is superb! I love how structured this Astor Satchel design is and the "raspberry" color is so bold, but not overwhelming. It surprisingly goes with everything. The gold hardware adds a touch of sophistication.
